This was one of Do’s favorite charities. She loved Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, valuing a president with such high moral standards and a commitment to bettering the lives of others. She knew the importance of people having a place to call home. Do and Ozzie always gave generously to relief efforts in times of crisis. Do would have been particularly distressed with the slow response of aid to Puerto Rico where Habitat is helping to rebuild houses.
Lutheran World Relief
Lutheran World Relief is a nonprofit organization that helps families in the world’s poorest communities build the resilience they need to thrive. Do and Ozzie were life-long supporters of this highly rated organization.
Bread for the World
Knowing that a single piece of legislation can wipe out much of the good effects of charitable donations, Do and Ozzie supported this lobbying organization. By mobilizing Christians to advocate on Capitol Hill, they try to ensure that our federal government serves the most vulnerable among us.
